CALL FOR CONTRIBUTIONS for Circumcision Series, November 6, 2009
Last week, the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) announced that they would be considering to strongly suggest to parents of male babies to be circumcised shortly after birth. This caused quite a stir, but this male circumcision has been brewing for some time amongst religious, social, and health officials.
In addition, female circumcision has been a center of discussion for people all over the world, in particular feminists. Is female circumcision unhealthy? What are the implications of female circumcision? Should it be called female “genital cutting” instead of “circumcision”?
Many questions are raised and few questions are answered in the realm of the male and female circumcisions debate. We at GAB have decided to delve into this topic further, by allowing for a platform to discuss all opinions (health, religious, cultural) of male/female circumcision in a day long series. This series will occur on November 6, 2009, with different article topics surrounding the debate.
We’d like people from all backgrounds and with different opinions to share their thoughts! If you’d like to contribute an article for this series, please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
