VOTE for Feminist video in Webby Awards: Creepy & stalker nature of Edward from the Twilight Series

April 27, 2010

Anita, from Feminist Frequency, wanted to tell GAB readers about a feminist video by partner Jonathan McIntosh. The video “used Buffy the Vampire Slayer to expose the creepy, stalker nature of Edward from the Twilight Series.  It’s now being nominated for a Webby Award.” Original video is below (it’s pretty awesome, I do have to say so myself):

You can reader the commentary for the video by maker Jonathan McIntosh here. Anita made a little promo video (see below) and voting ends on THIS Thursday, April 29th, so vote NOW!

Oh excellent — I will go over and vote. I am impressed too with my student’s music video that combines Lady Gaga’s “Teeth” with a visual dissection of the Edward/Bella relationship. I’m cheered that so many young women who enjoy the series nonetheless view it with some skepticism and engage in a dialogue with the text — and each other!

Go Buffy! I voted. Have you (fellow readers and viewers)? Everyone needs to get the vote out and support this bit of independent feminist media content.
