Call for Writers Deadline Extended!

May 22, 2010

The deadline for the upcoming series Theatre’s Rape Culture has been extended to Friday May 28 2010.

This series is designed to be intentionally broad but below are some ideas to get the writing flowing:

–       Rape or sexual violence on stage as a means to spread awareness or inform (e.g. the Vagina Monologues, poetry slams)
–       Rape or sexual assault as a plot or characterization device (e.g. Spring Awakening)
–       Rape or sexual assault in drama as a tool for survivors (e.g. Empowerment Theatre)

Anyone interested in issues of social justice, gender, race oppression and trauma is welcome to submit articles to the series. A broad range of material is welcome, from theatre reviews to interviews to personal narratives to profiles that focus on particular people or events. Before submitting, please familiarize yourself with Gender Across Borders and the general style and themes that appear on the blog!

For all those interested in applying, please click here for more details.

Hey!! I am Rida, and i live all the way down in Australia. I have been checking your blog for a while. Got some interesting pieces written there woman!! 😀 Am i a feminist?- well, i do fight for justice, and believe this is about time women are given their rights, especially in countries like Pakistan, Palestine, Afghanistan and Iraq. Am in my final year of high school. I would love to be a regular writer to your blog, however, my year 12 and study routine may stop me from writing frequently.

Yet, if you think you had still like me to contribute. Let me know. Best of luck. 🙂
